How to manage my Questrade storage fees?


Storage fees at Questrade are 1% annually, billed monthly.

If your account runs out of cash, you may receive notices from both Questrade and Silver Gold Bull.

Important:

If your account goes into a negative balance, payment must be made directly to Questrade (not Silver Gold Bull).


If you have a locked-In Account (LIRA, L-RSP, RIF, LIF) - These accounts cannot accept deposits, so you'll need to open a cash account for the storage fees - more details on that at the bottom of this article.


How to Deposit Funds

Log in to Questrade → Move Money → Deposit

Fastest methods:

  • Interac e-Transfer (<1 business day):

    Select your account and amount → click Next → follow the e-transfer instructions sent to your email.

  • Visa Debit (Instant):

    Enter your card details and complete the transaction like a standard online purchase.

Alternative method:

  • Bill Payment (1-3 business days):
    • Log in to your bank
    • Add Questrade Inc. as a payee
    • Use your Questrade account number
    • Send funds like a bill payment

Notes:

  • Your bank account name must match your Questrade account
  • Credit cards are not accepted

Locked-In Accounts (LIRA, L-RSP, RIF, LIF)

These accounts cannot accept deposits.

To fund storage fees:

  1. Log in to Questrade
  2. Select “Open new account” (or “Add an account”)
  3. Choose Cash account
  4. Confirm your details and complete setup

Once opened, deposit funds into the cash account using the methods above.
