Why did my gold purchase cost $0.02 when the amount was so small?
Gold is priced in ounces, but we allow fractional purchases. At very tiny amounts (like 0.000001 oz), the gold itself is worth less than half a cent. On top of that, a buy premium applies. After applying the premium and rounding to the nearest cent (since payments can’t be fractions of a cent), your cost becomes $0.02. This makes such small purchases uneconomic.
